Golden Hour Date Night is a 90-minute, two-person Slingshot ride for $169, timed to the last hour of daylight and capped with a guided photo stop at a named bluebonnet field. It's new for 2027, and it's the most occasion-focused package in our Slingshot rental lineup — built for anniversaries, birthdays, and the kind of date that's meant to be remembered, not just filled.

April sunset in Ennis runs roughly 7:50–8:05 pm, and the last light of the day over the Bluebonnet Trails is genuinely striking — soft, low light over open fields of wildflowers. We reserve one late-day slot for exactly this ride.

What's included

Only the driver needs to go through driver approval — a verification link emailed right after booking, usually cleared within 24 hours; a full refund if you're not approved. Drivers must be 21 or older with a standard Texas driver's license — no motorcycle license required, since Texas classifies the Slingshot as an autocycle under Tex. Transp. Code §521.085(b). Why we built this

Reviews across the Slingshot rental category, in Texas and nationwide, are dominated by exactly this occasion: a partner surprising a spouse for a birthday or anniversary, a couple looking for something more memorable than dinner and a movie. Date-night searches around Dallas are some of the highest-volume, and nothing in the category currently combines an open-cockpit drive with a golden-hour bluebonnet photo stop. Make it a full evening

Pair your ride with dinner in historic downtown Ennis before or after your slot — the courthouse square area has local restaurants within a few minutes of the Welcome Center. What the golden-hour photo stop looks like

About halfway through your 90 minutes, your route brings you to a named bluebonnet field we've scouted specifically for late-day light. You'll have about 15 minutes there — enough time to park, step out, and get a handful of real photos without feeling like you're on a timer. We bring a phone tripod so both of you can be in the shot together, not just one person photographing the other. It's a small thing, but it's the difference between "we drove past some flowers" and having an actual photo from the evening.

Why we limit it to one slot a day

Golden hour only happens once a day, and in April it's a narrow window — roughly 7:50 to 8:05 pm. Rather than stretch that light across several bookings and dilute it, we run one Date Night slot per evening so the couple who books it gets the light at its best, not whatever's left after an earlier group has already been through. That's also why we recommend booking a few weeks ahead once the season opens — this is consistently one of our most-requested times.
