Our flagship ride: two hours on the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails

The Bluebonnet Trail Experience is a 2-hour, self-drive Slingshot ride through the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails — $79 solo, $149 for a driver and one passenger. It's the flagship package in our Slingshot rental lineup: enough time to cover a real stretch of the trails, stop for photos, and actually feel like a drive rather than a quick lap.

Ennis is the Texas Legislature's designated Bluebonnet Capital of Texas, with more than 40 miles of mapped driving loops maintained by the Ennis Garden Club. We've built a curated 2-hour route through those trails, tuned for open-cockpit driving and scenic stops, and every rider gets a printed trail map for the glove box.

What's included

Only the driver goes through driver approval — a verification link emailed after booking, usually cleared within 24 hours. A passenger just shows up. No motorcycle license is required for the driver: Texas classifies the Slingshot as an autocycle, and Tex. Transp. Code §521.085(b) allows a standard Class C license to operate it. The route

Your route runs through the official Bluebonnet Trail loops, with stops planned at some of the best-known wildflower spots in Ennis. Bloom timing varies with the weather, but the trails are officially open April 1–30, and peak bloom usually lands around the third week of April. Booking mid-month gives you the best odds of a full field of blue. Solo or two-up?

Choose solo if you want the vehicle to yourself, or if you're the try-before-you-buy type who wants to focus entirely on the drive. Choose two-up if you're celebrating with a partner, friend, or family member — at $149 for two people, it works out to less than $75 a person for two hours, insurance included, with no deposit. How it drives

Every vehicle is a Polaris Slingshot with AutoDrive — an automatic transmission, no clutch, so it drives like a car — powered by Polaris's ProStar 2.0L four-cylinder engine, up to 204 hp depending on trim. Before you're on your own, we run through the controls and a supervised practice loop so you're comfortable with the steering, throttle, and braking feel before you're out on the open trail roads.

What a 2-hour window actually covers

Two hours breaks down roughly like this: 15 minutes of check-in and orientation before your official start time, a supervised practice loop to get comfortable with the controls, then close to 90 minutes of actual trail driving with time built in for at least one photo stop. It's enough time to cover a meaningful stretch of the Bluebonnet Trail loops without feeling rushed — longer than Drive & Go's single hour, and long enough that most riders don't want to be back in the car the second the flowers come into view.

What's not included

This is a self-drive experience with a curated route, not a guided tour with someone riding along, and it doesn't include the golden-hour photo stop built into Date Night or the multi-vehicle convoy setup of Groups. If either of those fits your occasion better, they're worth a look before you book.

Add-ons

A Bluetooth communication helmet rents for $25 per helmet, letting a driver and passenger talk over engine and wind noise. The photo add-on (new for 2027, $39) adds a tripod and additional guided stops beyond the one built into the standard route. Neither is required — plenty of riders book the base package and bring their own phone for photos.

Coming from Dallas, Fort Worth, or Arlington

Ennis is about 35 miles south of downtown Dallas on I-45, roughly a 37-minute drive; Fort Worth is about 57 miles and Arlington about 52 miles.
