The vehicle you'll drive

Every ride is in a Polaris Slingshot with AutoDrive — an automatic transmission with no clutch pedal, so it handles like a car even though it looks like nothing else on the road. It's powered by Polaris's ProStar 2.0L four-cylinder engine, with up to 204 hp depending on trim. Two people sit side by side in an open cockpit, three wheels on the ground (two front, one rear), steering wheel and pedals instead of handlebars. It's federally classified as a motorcycle, but in Texas it's titled and licensed as an autocycle — which is the whole reason no motorcycle license is required to drive one.

What actually happens when you arrive

Show up 15 minutes before your slot at the Welcome Center. We check your ID and confirm your driver approval, then walk through the controls — steering, throttle, braking feel, and how AutoDrive behaves differently from a normal automatic (it can downshift on its own to slow you down, which surprises first-timers more than anything else). You'll do a short supervised loop before we send you out on the actual trail route, so nobody's first turn behind the wheel happens unsupervised on a public road. Helmets are available to rent if you want one; we strongly recommend it even though it isn't always legally required for riders 21 and older.
